WWDC 2012

Tickets are sold out within 2 hours as soon as Apple announced their World Wide Developer Conference 2012 at Moscone West. The price of a ticket costs US$1599 and this year, they included the enrollment for teenagers above the age of 13. Unlike last year where there is an age restriction, teenagers with a membership of  iOS/Mac developer programme can now enroll themselves for the conference. As such, the venue still remained at Moscone Centre California, and June 11-15 has been confirmed for the event. I've been there for the previous WWDC, but I did not get to enter, and I recalled people queuing up 15 hours before the event started, just to grab the best seat to meet Steve Jobs, who was then ill. However, this year would still be as interesting like the years before when developers can meet new partners and share their programming experience in the world of iOS devices. Congratulations to those who managed to grab a seat in the event!

Samsung Galaxy Ace: First Impressions

Just recently got the Galaxy Ace Smartphone by Samsung. My first impression with this phone is that it looks pretty similar to the iPhone in terms of its sizing factors. This Gingerbread (2.3.6) phone has a 3.5 inch (320x480) (165PPI) LCD capacitive touch-screen. It is clocked at 832mHz with a 278 MB ram. It has a Micro-SD card slot so that you can install additional apps onto it. It has a 5 megapixel camera which was not much of an appeal. Based on the price, this phone is rather affordable, but definitely not the best in terms of performance when you compare it to the Galaxy S2. But this is a good phone if you simply want to read e-mails, surf the web or making calls.

Facebook bought Instagram

Well, some good news here. Facebook just bought over Instagram for $1 Billion. Instagram is a small company of 13 members situated in San Francisco. This photography application has been top rated by iPhone users and was recently introduced to the Android platform. I strongly believe that some new networking features will be established between Facebook and Instagram since they are collaborated and will surely benefit iOS and Android users.

New Camera: Sony DSC-WX7 (Updated with photos!)

Just got a new camera, the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-WX7 which has full HD video recording. I am rather elated when the camera supports 1080p recording as the previous Panasonic camera I had can only support 640p which the video quality isn't great at all. It comes with a 8GB SD card with a NP-BN1 battery. Battery life is not so good when taking continuous HD videos. It can take up to 30 mins non-stop recording before it runs flat. It gets quite hot when excessive usage. However, it has great noise-cancellation function and works pretty well under noisy conditions. Video quality is quite awesome but of course, not comparable to DSLRs. Its selling point is definitely the 25mm wide-angle lens. I loved the lens as I can place the camera very close to an object, but it still seem very far away from the camera. It also has 3D video capture capability, but I rarely use it. In a nutshell, this camera is suitable for travellers who wants it to be portable and light, and especially  its easy-to-use functionality. Here are some photos taken using the camera. Expand the photos for clarity.

Pair HBH-DS970 to iPhone

I just did a video on how to establish a Bluetooth connection between your iPhone and Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 bluetooth walkman headset. Many people have listed it out in the Apple Support Communities that they are unable to do so, but in this video, I will show you how to do it.

The new iPad (without 3)

Tim Cooks unveiled the next generation iPad as well as a new Apple TV that now supports 1080p streaming. If you can notice, the iPad is now named without a number behind it, so the rumored iPad 3 and HD were untrue. The iPad has an A5X processor that has quad-core performance and high resolution Retina Display. One thing they didn't mentioned about is about the extra 1mm thickness in depth as compared to the previous generation. It is compatible with the current Smart Cover as it has the same design as the iPad 2.

iPad 3 (Apple TV) Announcement

So geeks out there, in less than 3 hours, the next iPad 3 will be launched! There will be a live keynote streaming on Apple's website and I will stay up late tonight to watch this keynote. The event is held in San Francisco at around 10am (2 am GMT +8) and Engadget crews will be there to do their live stream too. In addition to the iPad 3, an improved Apple TV that is rumored to support 1080p streaming might also be introduced. Stay tune to my blog for coverage on the new specifications of the iPad as well as the Apple TV!

March 7 is confirmed

So for those guys who don't know when the iPad 3 announcement is, it has been confirmed for March the 7th. So as I have mentioned in earlier posts, it will have an A6 processor which now I can be sure it is wrong! Factories producing the logic board have shown that the processor for the iPad 3 is "A5X", in my opinion, a faster and improved version of the A5 dual-core processor. We might be expecting it to be clocked at slightly above 1Ghz for gaming performance. Another rumor that is most probably going to be true is that the iPad is going to support a Retina Display of resolution of 2048x1536, and a similar DPI like the iPhone4/S. Apple might be having a keynote for the iPad launch and I am excited about it.
